‘Achievement Through Inspiration’

Year 4

Welcome to Year 4!

Our teacher is Miss Stratton, assisted by Miss Wilcox, Mrs Davis and Miss Westley.

Have you seen the Kids' Zone? Play games, and visit some cool websites. You can vote for your favourites!

Our History topics - Who were The Romans and why Were They So Powerful? The Anglo Saxons and The Vikings.

Our Geography topics - Where Would You Choose To Build A City and Why is Liverpool Such a Cool Place to Live?

The children in Year 4 are encouraged to be independent with their reading. It is expected each child will read at least three times per week at home and they will change their own books once they are finished. Every afternoon each child has a reciprocal reading session to assess their comprehension skills and the children also enjoy quiet reading time each day.

Spellings are given out on a Monday and tested on a Friday. Children are given Maths or English homework on a Friday which is due to be handed in on a Wednesday. There may also be occasions when the children are given projects to complete at home related to their topic work and can be completed in more creative ways.

It is hoped children in Year 4 will become experts in their times tables and we do regular class challenges to help us enjoy and improve our knowledge. All children are expected to know their tables to 12x12 by the end of the year. It is hoped parents will support their children in their learning and are encouraged to spend time on this with their children. Miss Stratton also has some lovely games and websites along with Abacus Maths games (see link below - school code 3r3a) the children can use to help. Please do ask for any ideas to keep this important learning fun!

Please can all children ensure that their PE kits are in school and available at all times. Children will be asked to take their PE kits home at the end of each half term to be washed and return them ready for use on their first day back at school.
