Hi and welcome to the Year 3 web page. Our teacher is Mrs Turner. We are a happy and caring class who really enjoy learning new things and sharing our knowledge and skills with our family and friends!
Autumn Term - Extreme Earth
Spring Term - Stone Age
Summer Term - Egyptians
In Year 3, children are encouraged to read at least three times a week at home. They follow the school reading scheme and once they have finished their reading book, they can independently change their books. Every afternoon, every child, in a small group, has a reciprocal reading session to assess their comprehension skills.
Spellings are given out on a Monday and children are tested on Friday.
Homework is sent out on a Friday and needs to be returned to the class by the Wednesday. The homework is either a piece of English or Maths, however Mrs Turner may set a project linked to topic.
If your child needs any medication must be presented to school accompanied by a letter signed by parent/guardian.
Every Friday the children in Year 3 complete a piece of writing for 'Reason To Write' which they have worked for and planned during the week. If they choose to, the children take their shoes off to mindfully write their piece of work. Mrs Turner has really seen an improvement in the children's writing and the children feel that it really helps them concentrate.
Please feel free to follow the class on twitter MrsTurner@Y3Redgate. Mrs Turner tries to tweet at least once a week with pictures of the children's learning.
We have two sessions of PE each week and children are required to wear PE kit of black shorts, Redgate PE blue top and black pumps. Year 3 also go swimming for six weeks at the beginning of the summer term, when they will need swimming trunks/costume and swimming hat.
Class Room Rules.
In Year 3, at the beginning of the academic year, the children discussed and wrote their own rules for the classroom.

In Year 3, children are expected to learn their 3, 4 and 8 times tables, to build on their prior knowledge of the 5 and 10 times tables. Children are encouraged to learn their tables through songs, interactive games and fun activities. Each child also has an individual log on for www.activelearnprimary.co.uk, using the code 3R3A.
