Redgate Robins Nursery

Hello and Welcome to Redgate Robins Pre-school.

We are a privately run pre-school operating on the premises and grounds of Redgate Primary School.

We are registered to provide Sessional Day Care, caring for no more than 20 children from 2 years to under 5 years at any one time.

After our local playschool closed there were many requests from parents in Redgate School to start a new playschool as there was no other similar provision nearby.  As a result Redgate Robins opened in September 1999.

We then applied to become ‘accredited’ by the Local Education Authority and achieved accredited status in March 2000.  We are recognised as a provider of quality care and education for pre-school children, are subject to inspection by OFSTED.

OUR AIM

We believe that the pre-school years are vital for the development of a child.  Our aim is to provide a friendly and stable environment in which children feel secure, valued and confident and can achieve through a learning experience, which is enjoyable and rewarding.

In order to achieve this we offer a happy and stimulating environment where children can learn and develop through carefully planned play.  We have good indoor and outdoor facilities and a lively, friendly and dedicated team of staff.

OPENING TIMES

During the school terms we are open as follows:

Every weekday morning from 8.50 till 11.50 a.m.

Afternoon sessions run from 12.30 till 3.00 p.m.

Access is gained via Redgate Infant school gate and you are reminded that the gate will be locked at 9.15 am and again at 12.45 pm.  The gate will remain locked until re-opened at end of each session.  If you require entry while the gate is locked you will need to go to the main school office.

The afternoon sessions very much depend on the demand.  At the time of writing we are running sessions on a Monday and Thursday afternoon only, however the number of afternoons is variable and depends on there being sufficient demand.

Please be reminded that our term time dates run in accordance with Redgate Primary School.

ADMISSIONS

All children are welcome to attend the pre-school.  Children can be admitted from the age of two years until starting formal school.

Places in the pre-school arise mainly once a year in September and occasionally at other times if a child moves out of the area and the place is no longer required.

We have found that it is better for all ages if the younger members are not mixed with the older children.  We therefore advise that the younger children start with two afternoons per week.  In this way we find that the younger children settle quicker and become more confident individuals.

In order to avoid a large number of very young children starting together we admit children as soon as they are old enough, providing there are places available.  We also stagger the entry of new children in September for the same reason.

In the event of there being no places available, a child’s name will be put on the waiting list.  Parents will be notified as soon as a place becomes available.

For the children aged two until the term after their third birthday a fee will be charged each half term.
From the term after their third birthday children are entitled to up to 5 free nursery education sessions per week (15 hours) for 38 weeks per year.
