3 Medals for Redgate at Formby Schools Swimming Tournament 14/03/14

Last Friday, 14th March, a team of 15 swimmers from years 4, 5 and 6 went to Crosby baths to participate in the annual Formby Schools Swimming Tournament. Swimmers completed in heats for 10 different events, and then finals. As a parent watching from the viewing gallery it was both exciting and a tad nerve-wracking to watch. The competition was very strong, with many very able swimmers, and there were some very exciting races with some close finishes. Well done to all the competitors for their respectful sportsmanship.
Redgate pupils did very well and remained calm under pressure to complete in most finals and brought home 3 medals (for breast stroke and front crawl), our largest ever win at the event.  Well done to our team for representing the school so well;  their competitive spirit and determination is to be commended.
Woodlands were the overall winners at the event.
Thanks to the staff at Crosby Baths, I was very impressed by how slickly organised and well staffed the event was.  And a final thank you to Mrs Turner and Mrs Williams for organising our team, and to Mr Youell for driving the mini-bus.
