School Council
Hi, our names are Ben Carragher and Abigail Kennedy and we are the head of the school council. The school council helps make important decisions around the school and we represent the views of all of the students. The school council is made up from two students from each class from year 2 to year 6. We meet regularly with a teacher to discuss the issues raised by the students and the teachers. Every year a new school council is elected, with each class voting for its own councillors. The current school council is:
Year 6: Ben Carragher
Abigail Kennedy
Year 5: Evie Percival
Edith Jessie Rose
Year 4: Holly Murphy
Scott Carragher
Year 3: Billy Churchill
Jodi Cook
Year 2: Lewis Pringle
Betty Jackson
The school council has been involved in improving our school garden by getting donations of stones from a local garden centre. We also helped bring fair-trade food into the school which will help the farmers get more money for their crops and it helps us to learn about fair-trade.
The school council came up with some rewards and sanctions for the children, which are 'Star of the Week' and 'Golden Time'. Star of the Week is given to two children out of each class every week and they are rewarded with a certificate and badge in a special assembly. Their names are then displayed on a big board in the hall for everyone to see. Golden Time is an extra playtime on Fridays and is a reward for good behaviour . Some sanctions are missing either some Golden Time or some morning break.
Thank you for reading.
Bye!
Ben and Abby, School Councillors.
